Summertime can be a great time for an outdoor summer wedding, but a lot of people have concerns about how it will go. If you have an outdoor ceremony coming up or if your heart is set on your wedding being outside, here are some tips to ensure that you can make the most of the outdoors.
One Size Does Not Fit All: What are you most looking forward to when you think of your outdoor wedding? Is it the beautiful sky as a backdrop for your event? Or is it the idea of the sunset being a part of your pictures? Whatever the case may be, all outdoor weddings are not the same. Your style, your venue, and your plans will ultimately showcase your outdoor wedding. This means that you can decide if you want the entire event outdoors or just a part, if you’re going to have a rustic wedding or perhaps a different theme all together, or if you would like to have some outdoor entertainment. No matter what you decide, remember that this day can be exactly what you envision it to be.
Plan for the Weather: We can’t control mother nature, so it’s best to be prepared for whatever the whether may bring. There’s always the possibility of rain, so be sure to either have a shelter plan (think: tent) or a rainy-day plan (as in, moving the ceremony inside). Most venues will offer a wet-weather backup plan, but be sure you’re okay with what that plan entails should the rain happen. Having umbrellas available is also a good idea. Since it’s likely to be warm outside so be sure to have water available to your guests and the possibility of shaded cover in case anyone starts to get overheated. You may also want to consider having hand fans available as a nice favor option for your guests.
Setting Up is Hard to Do: The tricky part about outdoor weddings is setting up at the right time. If you set up too early, you may have some unintended consequences (flowers wilting, materials flying, having to wipe off seats). However, depending on how elaborate your setup is, you have to be sure to allocate the right amount of time to get the wow factor you’re hoping for. Talk to your florist or your designer about making sure setup happens according to plan.
