A Self-Care Checklist for the Bride and Groom

Engaged couples often spend a majority of their free time planning for their wedding and, unfortunately, lose the time that they previously would have spent on themselves. However, it’s crucial to practice self-care at all times, especially before such an important day in your life. There are dozens and dozens of ways that people can practice self-care, so, aside from this checklist, there are likely others that you can add to work into your life. Begin making an effort to incorporate self-care into your daily routine and you’ll feel much healthier and less stressed on your wedding day.

1. Create an exercise routine
One of the most obvious ways to take care of yourself is to exercise more often. It’s simple to say that you’ll begin exercising more and then fall out of the habit a couple weeks later, so create a weekly exercise schedule that you’ll be able to stick to. The exercises you work on don’t have to be complicated or something you have to pay for. Perhaps you could go on long walks each afternoon or find workout videos online that you enjoy. As long as you’re moving each day, you’ll feel better in your own body.

2. Eat a healthy diet
Along with working out more often, eating a healthy diet is an important aspect of self-care. An unhealthy diet causes plenty of negative effects, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. If improving your diet is something you’d like to work on, make small changes like incorporating healthier foods or cutting out junk food. After improving your diet for a couple months you will feel the positive changes occurring in your body.

3. Practice mindfulness
Self-care is not only physical, it’s mental as well. Find which methods work best for you and work on caring for your mental health at least a couple times a week. This could be by meditating, going to therapy, or even reading a book. Taking the time to get your mind off of your stressors benefits you in many ways and will put you in a better mindset for your wedding.

4. Pamper yourself
One of the most fun ways to practice self-care to take extra steps in your routine to pamper yourself. Head over to the spa or splurge on a beauty item to relax and improve your body and mind. Take this opportunity to work on qualities that you’d like to improve, such as acne or hair loss. Starting a new skin care routine or using Finasteride on thinning hair are just a couple examples of new habits you can get into to help you look your best on your wedding day.

5. Organize your life
A huge cause of stress for many people is disorganization. Once you find ways to organize your home, schedules, and more, you’ll feel a huge weight off of your shoulders. Organization allows you to be more effective in your day-to-day tasks and will be especially helpful when it comes to weddings planning. Taking a day or two to get organized will make it much easier for you to improve.
